Wrap it yourself: Gold & Black Vinyl Wrap Interior Trim
This may be the most unprofessional blog I’ve ever written. We all gotta take off the mask someday.
Look, outside of making good financial decisions, I never really rocked with the idea that our cars are only about getting from A to B; even my daily’s got a few mods. One of my favorite things to see in a build is when the owner throws in a little bit of their personality. But just like ya’s moms lied to your ugly mug saying: “It’s the inside that counts”, looking at my 2010 BMW started feeling a lil’ 2010-ish.
My riced-out 2010 328I vert is gloss black, popping with some copper/gold flare. It’s still Instagram clean, but time and life had left their mark. But here’s the thing – you don’t always need a brand-new whip. Sometimes, just a lil’ touch, a sprinkle of work, and bam, it’s like you’re on a whole new ride.
I found this Gloss Black Gold Forged Textured Vinyl Wrap. This ain’t that oversized sticker you found on eBay; this was pretty good vinyl. That black texture with a hint of gold? My G, it was like it was made for my E93. But before I got all wrapped up, there was some prep work: out with the old trim.
Getting That Old Trim Outta the Way
Here’s a quick breakdown on what you gotta do to get started, but here’s a good tutorial on how to wrap interior trim if this is your first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSw6yeSBkkQ&t=480s
Tools On Deck:
- Plastic pry tools (you don’t wanna scratch up your plastic like I did my first time)
- A lil’ flat-head screwdriver or torx bit
- Heat gun ( Don’t use a hair dryer, it takes to long)
- Cloth or towel (gotta keep things clean and smooth)
Start Easy, Build Up: I kicked things off with the dashboard trims. Get the hard wins first, you feel me?
Easy Does It: With the flat side of my pry tool, I slid it under the trim’s edge like your Jefita slides in my DM’s when I haven’t posted my shorty on my story in awhile, gently lifting the trim away.
Take your time: With a section lifted, it’s a smooth move around the trim. Slow and steady, no rush.
Unclip & Slide Out: Some trims are clingy with those clips. But a bit of finesse, and they’ll let go.
Man, seeing my car all bare was wild! Like staring at that one old lady fish that SpongeBob and Patrick tried selling chocolate to. Anyway, Peep the Reel I threw up on my IG; I recapped the whole thing.
Breakdown: Gloss Black Gold Forged Textured Vinyl Wrap
Product Details (Deets):
Quality & Hold-Up
- Automotive-Cast Vinyl: This ain’t your average sticker stuff. Made for cars, it’s pretty tuff and it’ll protect your parts. On one hand, it’s about leveling up the look, but on the other, it’s covering up scratches and those pesky little bumps we all dread.
- Thickness: At 3mils, it’s the sweet spot. Stretchy enough to fit those curves just right, but thiccc enough to cover up any lil’ flaws.
- Stick With Me: For the folks wanting to make sure that wrap stays put, there’s Primer 94 and Edge sealer. These bad boys are what the wrap pros swear by. They make sure your vinyl sticks good and holds its own over time. And don’t trip; it won’t mess with the texture or the stickiness. Unlike some of those nasty films out there, this one’s pretty solid.
For the User in You:
- Move It & Mold It: You know those shirts that claim to fit all but kinda don’t? This ain’t it. This vinyl’s like clay in an artist’s hand – with enough heat, it’ll move, stretch, and fit any which way you need. And if you need to pull it back and start over? No sweat, heat it up and run it again.
- Smooth Out the Kinks: Got a wrinkle? Or Bubble? Don’t trip, add some heat, some squeegee action, and bam – smooth as butter.
The Extras:
- Free Tool Action: Depending on the size you buy, they throw in some tools. Go above 4″x8″, and you get a freebie. But heads up, the 4”x8” size ain’t coming with it. If you grab the 12”x60”, you get a basic toolkit. Now, if you’re balling out with the 24”x60” size or bigger, they hook you up with the deluxe set. But, it’s a one-tool-kit-per-buyer kinda deal, no matter how many rolls you snag. Lil’ pro-tip? Get both 12″x60″ and 24″x60″, and they’ll slide you that deluxe set.

The Glow-Up: From Meh to Major Bag 🔥
Alright, y’all, after I put in the work (and trust, it was work!), I had to take a moment to peep the transformation. Let’s break it down.
Shine From the Inside
Jumping into my BMW, it felt, but not too in-your-face. The new wrap added that sprinkle of something special, not screaming “look at me,” but more like a cool nod from your soon-to-be new step dad after he was done give you a new sibling. When the sun hit just right? Man, the way that interior lit up was pure magic. Made every drive feel a bit extra.
Bronze Vibes Only
Okay, so there was this lil’ twist. Instead of that shiny gold I was expecting, it was giving more of a bronze mood. At first, I was kinda thrown off. Gold was the move, right? But when I saw the whole thing come together, that bronze was legit blending perfectly with my car’s black and copper theme. Funny how things work out sometimes, right?
Pics or It Didn’t Happen
You know how folks always say, seeing is believing? Well, if you’re vibing with my journey or thinking about switching up your own ride, you gotta check this out for yourself. No cap (As all the kids are saying now), the transformation was next level.
